come visit my life today ...

Wake up - hit the snooze button cause for some reason you are EXHAUSTED.


Turn off alarm because now you are running late. 


Find yourself sitting on the edge of the counter to put in your contacts because standing there is SO hard for some reason.


Go to work and be cranky with every single co-worker (then later apologize and they just shake it off cause they are male and you're the overly sensitive emotional female one) 


Leave work early cause its ACTUALLY your day off but you had to go in and take care of a few clients orders because they were time sensitive. (once again explaining to your coworkers how much you hate your normal routine being interrupted and then avoid the OCD comments)


Lay on your couch reading "BossyPants" by Tina Fey (and laugh hysterically) while the most amazing man in the whole world proceeds to clean your house around your lazy butt. (I did throw the sheets in the washing machine) 


Go to WalMart to pick up ingredients for you to make Shepherds pie (because Mr Wonderful really wants it and since he mopped, moved your feet ONTO the coffee table and then mopped where they were, he totally deserves it) 


Come home and send Mr Wonderful and his buddy to get coffee while you watch Dr Phil. Realise that both Mr Wonderful AND buddy want to watch the crazy mother in law on Dr Phil. (Mr Wonderful loves his someday mother in law btw)


Make Shepherds pie - accept compliments of amazing cooking abilities. Wait for them to finish and give more compliments before you inform them it was all soy/organic ingredients - watch faces fall as they realise they didn't notice the difference.


Take your vitamins. Again, sit on the edge of the counter to take out your contacts and realise that you feel like its 9 million degrees in your bathroom. Wash face with cold water then realise that your feet are freezing and maybe you should double up the vitamins. 


Climb into bed amid the sounds of NHL hockey on the xbox  - write your blog and realise that yeah maybe you feel crappy but all in all it was a pretty great day. 


(currently shivering and wondering if I should go get a flu shot or maybe its too late and I've already been contaminated) 

You MUST read this book - its absolutely hilarious

"The Mortal Instruments" By Cassandra Clare

Last year a friend of mine loaned me these 3 books and I LOVED them! The story throughout the entire trilogy is just fantastic and I really enjoyed all the characters and the plots and twists in the story. So I was pretty excited when my sister let me know that its not actually a trilogy, but a NEW 4th book came out!! YAY!! So I got it from the library and am reading it this week. So excited! Kind of missed Clary and Simon and Isabelle and all the rest... 

So here it goes... chapter 1 (if you haven't read the first 3 definitely pick them up - soooo great!)

"Sundays at Tiffany's" by James Patterson & Gabrielle Charbonnet

Really enjoyed this read! 

 Found this book listed on another user's 'list' at the library along with other books I had already read and enjoyed. I am SO happy that I did. It was fantastic. 

A little girl has an imaginary friend - and like all imaginary friends he eventually has to leave her. But 20 years go by and she ends up running into him... such a great story. 

Don't you wonder whatever happened to your imaginary friends?

And of course its set in New York City which I always love reading about. Beautiful descriptions of where its set. 

Would definitely recommend this! 

"Torment" by Lauren Kate

Torment

Good name for this book as that is basically what it did to me. I will try to not give too much of the story away.

This is book #2 in the Fallen series (you remember I read Fallen in March? ) 


Book 2 picks up exactly where the first left off which was kind of nice as it reminded me of what exactly what happening in the story.


Less confusing than the first book - since you know who everyone really is - but I had a bit of frustrated feelings towards Luce. She seemed so helpless in the situations she was thrown into. She would step up and take charge and then jump right back down into being a damsel in distress... Maybe I'm just being hard on her. 


The ending really made me happy. To see her finally make a decision - even a potentially disastrous one - was awesome. 


There are parts to the love story that I just can't wrap my head around. I think that I just need to get more information about their past to understand WHY there is such a deep level of love. (Maybe I'm a bit jaded in the love department)


Also, I am in love. But when I look at P, I can maintain my own thoughts and feelings and decisions and not just give into whatever he is saying (even if he is gorgeous). Then again I'm not a 17 year old girl. That could have a lot to do with it ;-) 


All in all a good light read (took me 3 sittings) and I have already put Passion on hold at the library.

I really enjoyed this series! Lisbeth Salander is such a strange and intriguing character. I felt like there were parts of her that any person can connect to. No matter what extremes she goes to, I found myself totally cheering her on. 

Completely sucked me in from the first chapter. The characters are so complex and there are so many factors to the story, and it is SO well done. You can tell that a lot of hours were spent on research. I actually felt like I was reading a true story at some points. 

The details about where the story takes place is amazing. I didn't even feel the need to google a map of Stockholm, I just felt like I was being guided by someone who knew the area inside and out. Was really great cause usually I feel "lost" in books that are about foreign places.

The books are pretty long, but they are so interesting that I found that I just wanted to read them cover to cover. 

Fully enjoyed these books. I will probably read the entire series again eventually. 

*Pretty harsh language in them and some graphic scenes so just a bit of a warning to more sensitive people. 

Pretty Little Liars - Sara Shepard

SUMMER READING  - Ok, during the summer I usually read a lot of really fun books that are easy to get into and thru while I am lounging around in the sun ... or if I'm sunburnt and need a distraction. My first one of this summer (even tho technically it wasn't summer till today and I finished it on Sunday)

The story really pulled me in! Ok, I will admit that I had a little bit of trouble keeping all the girls straight in the beginning - even now if someone asked who Emily or Spencer was I would have to sit and think for a second. But I am definitely going to read the next book in the series. I have to find out what the "Jenna Thing" is. Yes, I spoiled that for you, you DON'T get to know in the first book. 

I actually started reading this book because my cousin mentioned that the tv show was really good. So I googled it - cause apparently I google every single thing that I hear about, and saw that it was based off a book series. You know me, I have to read the books first. (That's how I got so addicted to Gossip Girl)

So if you are looking for a good little read that you can pick up poolside I would suggest this for sure. But if your'e like me and don't like not knowing something, there are 8 books in the series. I will read them all I am sure, if I can get them from the library this summer lol

"Fallen" Lauren Kate

Another book post... lol, can you tell I need to keep my mind busy lately? 

Ok, so I started reading this book a few days ago and at first I was almost ready to just give up - it was kind of creepy. I found myself laying in bed all alone at 2 am trying desperately to read it - cause the moment I set it down I kept thinking about it.

I felt there was a places that it was missing some detail, but this is also the first book in a series so I am sure there is more to come that will fill in those questions that I had. 

VERRRRY surprising to me. I honestly thought that I had it all figured out and knew exactly what was going on but I was SO wrong. And actually, I really enjoyed what was really going on more than what I had thought. 

A fun read, make sure that you have a night light if you're reading in bed. Spoooky at times.

Last Sacrifice - Richelle Mead

It was SOOOO good!!! 

Ok I finished it this morning (yes gave up sleeping in to finish the last 4 chapters) And I am SO impressed with it. So many twists in the story line and things happening that you didn't dream were possible to happen. 


Love story of course - but not over the top details or anything which is always nice (it is a teen/young adult book after all) 


The best part I think of this book is the fact that it is not a happily ever after completely everything tied up nicely with a little bow on the top. It reflects real life in how sometimes even tho you try your hardest and do everything you can, there are some things that you cannot change, or there are consequences to the choices that you make.


I read on her website that Richelle Mead is going to be continuing the Vampire Academy stories with different characters that we somewhat know about. Very excited for that to happen let me tell you, I will definitely be reading those as well. They are just purely entertaining and good reads. Nothing that keeps me  up at night (altho I want to finish them at 7 am!!) 


So I would recommend this entire series to everyone ~ enjoy! 

The Vampire Academy Novels

#1 - Vampire Academy

I started reading this book because my sister Katie told me that it was amazing. At first I had a bit of trouble getting into it, there are a lot of strange words that I ended up just googling how to pronounce them (even when I read to myself I HAVE to know how they would be said aloud, its just one of my weird quirks)  But, the story did start to really draw me in once I kind of figured out what was going on. I think it was clever of the author to keep you a bit in the dark at the beginning just for that hint of mystery.

 #2 - Frostbite

 Good action in this one. A bit more teenage romance that I normally would be into, but there was enough vampire stuff to keep me interested. I was a teenage girl so you would think I would be more into their drama. but usually I'm not.   My sister missed reading this one and went right to the next one and she didn't even realise that she had missed an entire book so I guess not a lot really happens as far as character development. Or the next book seems to fill you in enough. lol. I personally think something pretty major happens to Rose - but I won't give it away.

#3 - Shadow Kiss

A lot more information is given in this book about the relationship between Lissa and Rose. Tons of action and fighting in this one. And some sadness. I actually did cry at one point. And I think Dimitri is hot (in my head anyways) 

#4 - Blood Promise

Rose is a lot more grown up in this one - in a sad sort of way that only loss can really make you grow up. Lissa is a bit more absent from this book but I enjoyed getting to know Rose on a deeper level and what actually makes her up. And reading about Russia always makes me happy :-) 

#5 - Spirit Bound 

Kind of hard to get into this one at first because it seemed like a return to high school - which I guess in a way it was. But soon things happen that brings the intensity up! The ending really shocked me and I didn't want to wait to read the next one ... but of course I had to... 

#6 - Last Sacrifice

FINALLY!!!!  I got it out of the library the day that I finished The Gargoyle so it has just been an awesome book week for me!! YAY!!! So I will keep you posted on how it turns out!

I just finished this book and I am blown away. 

Ok, truth be told, I only got it out at the library because when we were kids my baby sister would wrap a towel around her neck and proceed to leap from one piece of furniture to another proclaiming "WE ARE GARGOYLES" (Thank you Disney for that animated program that once a week brought more material for my family's entertainment) 

So I took the book home, settled on my couch and opened the pages and was IMMEDIATELY mesmeorised by the imagery conveyed by Mr. Davidson's words. I could hardly put the book down, it completely sucked me in. I felt some sort of connection with this book - perhaps the tortured artist in me or just the fact that I sometimes think I've lived a hundred lifetimes...

Word to some of you readers out there, some pretty graphic language and imagery. (my baby sister won't be reading it anytime soon, she no longer wears bath towels, but she is still my baby sister and I try to protect her from some things even if she is growing up way too fast)
